My great-grandmother already practiced grounding!
My great-grandmother started her day walking on the lawn.
My grandmother told me this. She could still see her, barefoot, lifting her long skirts in the 1910s style to keep them dry from the morning dew. I loved listening to all the family stories she told.
Imagine an elegant and cultured lady of Prussian aristocracy!
Today this is called grounding or connecting with the earth's energy.
I don't know how my great grandmother knew how good it was for her health to walk on wet grass. She had many other health practices, unusual for the times.
I have the feeling my love for all things health come from her.
I wonder if in those days they had measuring instruments or did they observe the before and after effects on people's health of walking barefoot on the earth?
At the end of the nineteenth century they measured subtle currants at the surface of the earth. Before these measures the ancients (China, India, native Americans) knew that contact with the earth was beneficial for one's health.
Today research is rich with information on the benefits of grounding or connecting with the earth.
Our body is a conductor that receives energy from the earth and transmits it instantaneously throughout the body. Instruments are able to measure this conductivity.
Doctor Stephen Sinatra in his book, Earthing, the most important health discovery ever?, says that our body is saturated with negatively charged electrons abundantly present at the surface of the earth.
It is believed that by doing this your electric circuits are reestablished and you recharge your body like a battery.
The benefits observed scientifically and through observation are:
Reduced pain even chronic pain
Improvement of sleep
Increase in energy
Improvement of muscle tension and headaches
Feeling of calm
Protection against the potential detrimental effects of man made electromagnetic fields
Improvement of inflammation
Faster recovery after intense sports activity and reduction of muscle aches
Inflammation is probably the most interesting aspect as most of what ails us has an inflammatory component. Something you'll want to avoid specially if it's chronic.
Doctor Stephen Sinatra even says that inflammation is a sign of a deficit in electrons.
« The fact is, every cell, every organ, and every function in your body relies on electrical function to heal, regenerate, and thrive.
But modern life has cut us off from the one thing that resets our body’s electrical health — the Earth itself. » Doctor Laura Koniver MD
How do you reconnect with the energy of the earth?
The easiest way is to walk barefoot on the earth.
You can also swim in a lake, a river or the ocean.
Touching a bush, a tree or a plant with it's roots in the ground will connect you to the earth.
Cement, natural stone, pebbles and sand are conductive. Wood and asphalt are not.
Walking on grass covered in morning dew (as my great grandmother did) is a perfect and most conductive way to gather this energy
Why do you need to be barefoot? The soles of our shoes nowadays are made of plastic or rubber which act like a barrier between you and the earth. Shoes used to have leather soles that were conductive.
You can also touch these surfaces with your hands or any other part of your body. Even if you brush by a bush while walking in the street you'll benefit from this energy. It's instantaneous.
The longer the contact the better. Even just a few seconds are better than nothing.
Will you try? Have you already done it? Tell me.
