Your blood type and its impact on your diet

Genetics has a lot to say about who you are. The environment in which you operate, your lifestyle and your thoughts are even more meaningful. Your blood type is a gene that influences several aspects of your physiology and whose importance is ignored.

If, you organize your life according to your blood type, around your diet, exercise, stress management, etc. you can build excellent health easily.

By following the recommendations that allow your body to function in accordance with its internal chemistry, you can benefit from dazzling health. If, on the other hand, you make choices that disrupt your metabolism, clog your system and cause your cells to adhere to each other, you may encounter some issues.

Your blood type is part of your genetic identity

Your blood type communicates information to your body, suggesting ways to react when dealing with events such as stress, inflammation, infections or the food you eat.

Each blood type reacts differently, psychologically and physically, to these influences. A specific food may be beneficial or harmful to your health depending on whether you are O, A, B or AB. You are more likely to have certain symptoms or conditions depending on your blood type.

Your predisposition to certain common or more serious diseases may be related to your blood type. The way to lose weight is different if you are type A or type O.

“One of the most creative scientists in the Western world”

We owe this work to Dr. Peter D'Adamo, a naturopathic physician, who for more than 30 years has been studying the impact of blood type on metabolism and why we need to take it into account when choosing our food and our lifestyle. His father initiated this idea and at first he found it a little extreme to be plausible.

But he investigated the scientific literature and found many studies on blood types and "their" diseases: which blood types are more affected by certain symptoms/diseases. Out of 13,000 articles on blood types, at the time of his medical studies, he found 4,000 of them that had nothing to do with transfusions but with the physiology and pathology of blood types.

This was the beginning of a whole journey that continues today by taking into account other aspects of our genetics. The SWAMI GenoType offers an even more in-depth model to give you your personal diet plan based on multiple other criteria in addition to your blood type. (see my IMPULSION program to access your personal food manual called SWAMI GenoType)

How does it work?

What determines your blood type is the presence or absence of specific antigens. The group 0 (zero) is characterized by the fact that its red blood cells have no antigens. Hence the term type 0 which has become type O by simplification. On the other hand, it has anti-A and anti-B antibodies. This group can therefore neither receive A blood or B blood. It can give to all blood types though.

Group A is equipped with antigen A and contains anti-B antibodies and therefore cannot receive B type blood (nor AB blood). Type B has the B antigen and contains anti-A antibodies, so it cannot receive A (or AB) blood. Type AB has no antigens of types A or B since it is a composite of the 2 types A and B. It may receive blood from all other blood types.

We are born with a blood type, but we develop antibodies to other blood types in our early childhood by being in contact with our environment and especially with the food we eat. Indeed, “blood types” (or rather antigens) are found everywhere in the environment. We react with our environment in the same way we react with another blood type.

What they say:

"No conscious reader can complete this book without considering much more thoughtfully how their genetic inheritance relates to their needs for specific food, lifestyle, and environmental factors to improve their health. A very important contribution to the development of your own blueprint of health.”
Jeffrey Bland, PhD, author of Genetic Nutritioneering

"Peter D’Adamo has made a remarkable contribution to the literature on health and nutrition, demonstrating that our dietary needs are as unique as our fingerprints. Clear and easy-to-follow guidelines make eating right a simple pleasure."
Joan Borysenko, PhD

"I am afraid that Peter's merits are not estimated enough in the scientific world. Therefore it seems to me necessary, not only to promote his concept here in Europe, but also to tell him that I acknowledge him as one of the most creative scientists in the Western world."
Gerhard Uhlenbruck, PhD, MD, Professor, Institute of Immunobiology University of Cologne and world-famous lectin researcher

"A step forward in the field of health, for the time to come. "
Joseph Pizzorno, ND, co-founder of Bastyr University

“The science of eating according to your blood type is very important for a better understanding of health and disease. I think we are on the eve of a great medical revolution and Dr. Peter D'Adamo and the scientists to whom he refers will be a stone to building a new medical system."
Dr. Maria Pia Scaffidi (Italy), personal correspondence.

The blood type diet does not, in fact, relate to blood at all.

"The blood type diet does not, in fact, concern blood at all. It's about our relationship with the environment, how we manage our environment and make our choice between our 'friends' and our 'enemies'. When you come into contact with the environment, your blood type is sent like a messenger to ask: here’s who I am, who are you?" Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo

Just as you have affinities with some people, your cells will have desirable or non-desirable affinities with food. A certain food will have a super beneficial, beneficial, neutral or downright harmful effect on your body. It's as simple as that. But what's important is to know which ones.

We're not all made the same

The genius of Dr. Peter D'Adamo is to have further refined the food choices that suit each one of us , beyond the blood type diet, with his SWAMI GenoType personal nutrition manual that you can get with my IMPULSION program. Nutrition is no longer a guessing game.

You may have noticed that your best friend can eat certain foods without putting on a single ounce, whereas with the same foods, you keep piling on the pounds. In addition, you feel heavy, tired and bloated. That's individuality. You're not made the same. Once you find the right food choices you will be another person.

I gave the example of weight, but this diet contributes to your health, energy, immunity and longevity.

I encourage you (in reality it’s a must!) to read Eat Right For Your Type (2nd edition 2017) by Dr. Peter D'Adamo. In this book he explains the foundations of his work. If you want a softer approach with a practical aspect giving you recipes and menus to get started (particularly appropriate if you live in France or Europe), you can read my book, The Blood Type Diet Cookbook * that I co-wrote with Lucy Degrémont, published by Thorsons.

To your fabulous health!

*Doctor Peter D’Adamo honored me with a foreword to my book in French, Mangez Mieux Selon Votre Groupe Sanguin.
